About Me

Alex Shad Profile.jpg

I am a professional session musician and tutor working and living in London, UK. While specialising in Funk, Pop and Jazz, I am able to produce an authentic sound for the majority of genres I am commissioned, with ranging from Rock to Samba and everything in between.

Born in 1997 and raised in London, I quickly gained an appreciation for the vast number of musical opportunities available. Since picking up drums at the age of 9, and starting to gig at 13, I was drawn to any opportunity for playing drums, from school orchestras and county brass bands to gigging with local cover bands and producing original music with peers.

Drummers such as Nate Smith, David Garibaldi, Steve Jordan and Ash Soan, among others, have all had a large impact on me in honing my skills in to become the musician I am today.

After finishing my study of Popular Music Performance at BIMM London in 2018. I have gone on to gig and tour around the UK and Europe at numerous notable venues and festivals, joining bands of varying styles and genres. These include Dat Brass, Terrianne, The Modern World, The Royal Piano Show, Nonô, New Car Smell and many others. I have further gained a great deal of experience from frequenting London’s function circuit, playing at hundreds of wedding, hotel and corporate gigs.

I also offer tuition services as an experienced private instrumental teacher.
